Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) again received ASEAN students doing internship and teaching practicum from a number of universities in the Philippines and Thailand. The program as part of the Internationalization at Home Program that has been announced by Undiksha Rector this year.
The admission of students from various programs took place at the Undiksha General Seminar (GSU) Building, Tuesday, 3rd of September 2019. Vice Rector on Academic Affairs and Partnership of Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI. revealed that there are 46 students who participate in these two programs in two batches this year. In this batch, 16 students from 6 universities from the Philippines and Thailand, 10 among others are participating to conduct teaching practicum in Lab Schools in Primary and Junior High School levels, while 6 others are doing internship, 4 students are having working experience in the Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Singaraja Branch as they are from Bussiness Administration major and the the other 2 students are having their job experience in Puri Bagus Hotel as they come from Hospitality Managemen major. Through their participation on the programs, students are expected to not only focus on the academic field, but also on building social interaction and geting to know the local culture.
Meanwhile, Head of Office of International Affairs and Partnership of Undiksha Dr. Ni Made Ratminingsih, M.A., explained that the participants of the programs are provided with mentoring so that the students are given assistance to maximize their skills both in teaching and in other professional fields.
In addition to receiving, Undiksha also has sent the students having international experience in similar programs. This year, they are sent to several institutions to four different countries, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. This year, the number reaches 98 students from various study programs. The number has continued to increase from the time it was launched in 2017.
